I strive to keep my work as fresh and lively as I perceive the world; to achieve a sense of presence; and to engage viewers to share in my experience.

Pastel is a delicate medium, containing the purest and most brilliant of pigments with minimal binder. This combination creates a rich and velvety finish, along with endless possibilities for application.

 Whether painting in pastel, oil, or acrylic, I use the marks on the paper or canvas to create tones, textures and color fields. I find this approach brings the surface to life. When viewing from several feet away a holistic work is apparent; while close-range viewing creates an entirely different visual experience.
